My work is concerned with the connections among all living things. The spiritual beliefs of human beings give one the power of life. Abstract shapes, lines and color are used to convey the mystery and the randomness of the metaphysical forces involved in the eternal pathways of the living. Growing up in an ancient rural English village, (Nayland) I saw signs of ‘an Olden people’ and heard tales about their mysteries. In Canada I studied the Inuit (Eskimo) culture and their beliefs in an omnipotent Being. The themes of a great mystical power, sacredness of all beings and the acceptance of life on life’s terms are seen in my paintings and prints.
The “PEAR” series represents the many mysterious layers of life and nature. They are a metaphor, with eternal pathways (ley lines) and robust shapes, of the beauty and richness of life.
